The question of the ideal age to start aesthetic medicine often comes up. Beyond age, it is better to question the needs of each person based on the fragility of their skin, their genetics and their lifestyle. A range of treatments is available at Dr Laurence Barry's office to meet the needs of young people.
Why start aesthetic medicine young?
Dr. Laurence Barry: Young people are very uninhibited about aesthetic medicine, it is a natural approach for many. They were born into a world where youth and beauty are synonymous with dynamism and they want to preserve this capital. It is not uncommon to hear patients ask me in consultation how to stay as they are. Others already show signs of fragility in their skin and are ready to treat them. They are aware that the earlier they start, the better the results will be. Experience shows us that they are right.
A third category of young people consult because they are looking for beauty, sometimes “transformation”, often wish to get rid of a complex such as an asymmetry of the mouth or nose…
Does aesthetic medicine allow you to preserve your youthfulness?
Dr Laurence Barry: Prevention is the key word in this approach. If the skin shows no or very little fragility, the objective will be to maintain toned, well-hydrated skin with a uniform complexion.
SKINBOOSTERS allow you to rehydrate and plump the skin 1 to 2 times a year and provide ever more hyaluronic acid, essential for hydration, followed by an increase in the production of collagen and elastin. The skin will remain elastic and supple.
PEELS, 3 to 4 sessions per year to cleanse the skin of impurities and the effects of pollution (atmosphere, tobacco, metro, etc.) and get rid of oily skin, blackheads and certain forms of acne.
Aesthetic medicine to maintain your beauty or 'to be more attractive'.
Dr Laurence Barry: Thin and fair skin is more fragile than others. Some young patients begin to have nasolabial folds that bother them. Hyaluronic acid injections will fill in the hollow areas between the side of the nose and the corners of the mouth.
Sometimes we will inject the corners of the mouth at its ends (labial corners) to strengthen the horizontal line of the mouth. The treatment will have to be repeated every year.
Young women regularly ask us for “the model look”, by which I mean a refined face with pretty cheekbones, well-defined lips that are full enough to be highlighted by lipstick. The preferred treatment is still hyaluronic acid to harmonize the volumes of the face at the cheekbones, lips and sometimes even the chin in order to balance the profile (nose line, mouth, chin).
The treatment will need to be repeated every 12 to 18 months.
The body is not left out with requests for permanent laser hair removal. Young people are looking for smooth, soft-to-the-touch bodies. It has almost become a must-have for girls in the armpits and bikini areas. Young men will favor the torso and the back which must now be smooth!
In the event of a double chin, saddlebags or bead, the Cryolipolysis technique provides definitive results, without anesthesia, without surgery and without scarring. The session lasts 1 to 3 hours and without seeing or knowing, you can resume your activities. 3 months later the results are there.
My opinion : for 15 years of activity, the demand of young patients has been constantly evolving. The treatments provided are precise, reversible and allow you to instantly correct the signs of aging but above all to improve your beauty. It is very exciting and rewarding support work thanks to the satisfaction expressed by patients who maintain an image in line with themselves.
