Drooping eyelids
Drooping eyelids
The skin of the eyelids is the thinnest in the body, barely 0.5 mm thick.
The eyelid moves intensely: we blink 28,000 times a day.
The eyelid in women is also subjected to a severe test: makeup during the day, makeup removal in the evening. Over the years, the reduction in dermal thickness causes the eyelids to sag.
This sagging leads to excess skin which makes the eyelid heavy.

The consequence of this excess skin consists of:
- In a more closed look
- In a sad way
- And sometimes inconvenience for the patient on a daily basis who has the impression of having a weight on the eye.
Il existe en médecine esthétique une alternative à la chirurgie, une technique non-invasive qui permet de réduire cet excès de peau et d’ouvrir le regard : un traitement par laser appelé PLexr.
This laser treatment contributes to the production of new, thicker collagen which will redensify the eyelid and combat this sagging.
THE MEDICAL BLEPHAROPLASTY TECHNIQUE
The correction of eyelid sagging is now carried out in the office thanks to a medical technique called Plexr (Plasma exeresis by creating an arc of plasma to sublimate the treated tissues), which performs a non-invasive and incision-free blepharoplasty, for a result without scar.
This is a technique allowing retraction of the skin by surface action, without reflection and without heat transfer into the underlying tissues. There is therefore no bleeding or scarring.
Without contact with the skin, located less than 1 mm from the area to be treated, a potential difference is created between the tip of the device and the tissue to be treated. The air is then ionized, and an arc delivering a large quantity of energy appears. The heat released by the Joule effect is limited to the firing point and causes the sublimation of the corneocytes, without involving the epithelial basal lamina, and without damage to the surrounding tissues.
THE PROGRESS OF THE MEDICAL BLEPHAROPLASTY SESSION
The patient applies an anesthetic cream (EMLA) 30 minutes before the treatment.
Before starting, using your hand, highlight the folds to be treated. The operating mode used is SPOT mode: points (microscopic of 500 microns) are arranged in a triangle or zig-zag on the identified areas to obtain a 360° lifting effect.
The session lasts on average 20 to 30 minutes.
The consequences are marked by slight swelling of the eyelids for 24 to 48 hours, fine crusts fall off on the 3rd day. The pinkness of the eyelid, which can sometimes last up to 1 month, is completely makeupable. Resumption of activities is immediate with fluid beige makeup.
It is advisable to apply high factor sun protection for 2-3 months.
2 to 3 sessions are necessary (depending on the excess tissue to be removed), carried out 6 weeks apart to obtain a result equivalent to that of a surgical blepharoplasty.
This technique also makes it possible to intervene on dermatological lesions (xanthelasma, warts, skin growths) or scar imperfections, where it is very difficult to use the laser.
